Fuel Control Relay Assembly 24V 3B & 2H

24V Fuel control relay for 60- and 70-series, 12 Volt 08/1980-12/1989. Usually a problem with the fuel control relay is either the EDIC motor won't move the rod for injection pump to start engine or the engine won't stop when the ignition switch is turned back off. Landcruiser BJ70 BJ73 11/84-7/88 Landcruiser HJ60 HJ75 8/80-12/89 BJ74, FJ70, FJ73, FJ75, HJ60, HJ75 You can let the vehicle idle for a while and watch the EDIC and see if it rotates intermittently. It will send the fuel control rod through shutdown and back through over inject and stop again at run. The cause of this can be three fold, an electrical short in the harness, a bad EDIC controller or the most likely cause is a faulty EDIC motor. What happens is the "permanent" grease that lubes the gears gets too hot, melts and runs down into the motor control contacts which are below the gears. This sets up a series of short and open currents that cause the EDIC motor to cycle since the relay thinks its off but then as it rotates it is running again. You can fix it yourself if it hasn't melted down by carefully cleaning the extra grease out of the contacts or by replacing the EDIC motor. The entire system can just be replaced by using a simple pull / push cable to stop the truck when the key is removed. We do this on 90% of our diesel conversions as it is reliable and simple.
