Some companies are selling modified GM parts. Some are using the light duty 4x4 pick up parts. Why not use the original heavy duty disk brakes? These use vented rotors and 4 piston calipers. Though this comes with used calipers and rotors, we have the upgraded versions available rebuilt for the calipers and new for the rotors.

1968 and Earlier Models
*Differential With Fine Spline Spider Gears200.00
*If you have a 1968 and Earlier with No Brake Booster and Course Spline Inner Axles, then you will also need a Differential with fine spline spider gears for use with the late model inner shafts.

You need to dis-assemble the knuckles off of your FJ40. Get down to just the bare end of your axle. Then clean everything up, derust it, degrease them, paint the parts then start reassembly. You do not need to cut or modify your axle housing at all. You CAN re use your original booster & M/C just use the proportioning valve that we sell above.

Early model axles (from 6/75 and earlier) will require some grinding of the lip at top and bottom of the inside ball to fit the birfields. Generally a 1/16" on top and bottom will suffice.
